Presenter talent training
Finding the new faces of your institution and growing their profile
The broadcast media rely on academics to present many of
their factual programmes, some of these academics becoming familiar names. A
well-known member of staff brings benefits to their home institution, but there
are also many positives for the individual academic presenter.
The Academic Ideas Lab provides training and support to enhance presenting skills and to move academics towards opportunities to present their subject to large broadcast audiences. This ranges from initial simple screen tests to try individuals out on camera, to one-to-one sessions for developing specific abilities such as interviewing another person or doing voice-overs, to filming a whole piece for a showreel. We don't have a fixed 'one-size-fits-all' course but plan an approach depending on the number of academics we're working with at your institution and their existing experience, and can deliver everything from a single session to putting in place an institution-wide talent pipeline.
