Research funders are keen to maximise the impact of their research, and in particular to share and show the benefits of knowledge gained using public money. With REF 2020 on the horizon, it’s never been more important for researchers to extend their influence beyond the academy to the world outside.
The Academic Ideas Lab takes your research as a starting point, and from it develops proposals for mainstream programming, for example for Channel 4, BBC Two, BBC Radio 4, and international channels such as the Smithsonian Channel. These programmes reach mainstream audiences from hundreds of thousands to millions of people. Using our expertise and contacts we help you determine the right route to reach audiences and select and secure the best producers and commissioners to make it happen. We establish collaborations from proposal stage which last right through to publication, and hopefully, broadcast.
Alongside this we work to evaluate and evidence the impact of this huge reach, providing metrics that establish the significance of your research for inclusion in reports and case studies.
We are happy to discuss research at any stage but are especially keen to be involved in supporting grant proposals.
There’s more information in the ‘Q and A’ section.
